Risk Specialist
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Risk Specialist to join our dynamic team. This role will serve as a Risk Subject Matter Expert (SME),providing critical support in identifying, assessing and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will play a key role in both pre-contract risk assessment for tenders and post-contract risk management during project execution.
This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with strong analytical skills, engineering expertise and the ability to manage risk reviews across multiple tenders and projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will possess excellent presentation skills, a proactive mindset and a commitment to fostering a risk-aware culture within the organization.
What You'll Be Doing:
Facilitation of Risk Workshops:
Facilitate risk workshops across various functions to identify, assess, and prioritize risks.
Engage stakeholders to ensure alignment on risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
Risk Assessments:
Perform comprehensive risk assessments for tenders, projects, and other business activities.
Identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough risk evaluation.
Analyze risks at various levels, including area, sector, and regional perspectives.
Conduct quantitative risk assessments (QRA) as required.
Reporting and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and confidential records of all risk assessments and related activities.
Prepare detailed reports on pre- and post-contract risks, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
Provide regular updates and insights to stakeholders on risk-related matters.
Continuous Improvement:
Share knowledge and lessons learned from risk assessments to enhance team capabilities in identifying and mitigating risks.
Recommend and implement improvements to risk management processes and tools.
Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in risk management.
Training and Development:
Deliver training and guidance on risk management principles, techniques, and best practices.
Promote a strong risk-aware culture and a proactive risk management mindset within the project teams and stakeholders.
Support project teams in adopting risk management processes and technologies.
Other support as may be requested to support the overall function:
Support projects, as a Risk SME, in establishing risk management capabilities for delivery.
Conduct maturity assessments for risk management practices on major programs as required
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field (required).
Advanced qualifications in Risk Management or a related discipline (preferred).
Minimum 10+ years of professional experience, including proven expertise in risk management or a related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and latest risk management software.
Strong analytical and investigative skills.
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
Strong written and oral communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Experience of working in risk assessments at bidding stage of pursuit capture is highly desirable.
Experience of working in Engineering and Program Management Consultancy environment across GCC region.
Demonstrated business acumen and sound judgment.
Solid understanding of the challenges of working in a multicultural environment.
Experience in the GCC region is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel regionally as required.
