Job Description:
Parsons is seeking a passionate, skilled, and experienced Project Manager to join our team! In this role, you will lead the design, engineering, and QA/QC team on a major government facility renovation project, ensuring successful execution throughout all project phases in collaboration with the construction contractor team.
**Candidate MUST BE WILLING AND ABLE TO TRAVEL domestically for multiple short term travel assignments throughout the life of the project, from a few weeks up to two to three months in duration.**
This position involves providing direction, leadership, excellent communication and project management skills and responsible for planning, programming, design coordination, scope, cost management, risk management, subcontractor management, and overall implementation of the project to meet project schedule, goals and objectives. You will work with the Engineering team to plan and meet project design deliverables, client objectives, RFI requests, risks, and stakeholder requirements.
What You’ll be Doing:
- Responsible for the overall management and oversight of integrated, multi-disciplinary staff through all project phases including mobilization, design, permitting, QA/QC, and closeout activities
- Manage a team of both Parsons and subcontractor engineering, design, and quality control professionals
- Responsible for the effective coordination and collaboration between the Parsons design team and construction contractor team
- Identify design risks and recommend mitigations that could arise during the design and timely communication of performance, risk, and opportunities to the appropriate stakeholders
- Provide oversight and support to ensure design services meet project financial, schedule, and deliverable targets
- Manage all internal project phases for Parsons for the project office leading to successful execution of planning, mobilization, sustainment, and project execution
- Ensures timely submission of deliverables meeting contract requirements
- Maintain and manage communication and interface at the senior levels of the Client’s and the Contractor’s organization and within Parsons; and facilitate information sharing among project stakeholders
- Manage all change and RFI requests
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management
- Must have a strong orientation for process improvement and collaboration
- Must have experience in project planning, execution, performance measurement, risk management, cost estimating, scheduling, and managing multi-disciplinary project teams
- Experience with multiple engineering disciplines: architectural, design, civil, MEP, utilities
- Experience managing cost, schedule, and performance within government contract vehicles (CPFF, CPAF, T&M, or FFP)
- Willingness and ability to travel for multiple short term travel assignments throughout the life of the project, from a few weeks up to two to three months in duration
- A proven problem solver who can make clear-headed decisions while under pressure
- Proven ability to operate independently in fast-moving government program environments
- Strong knowledge of standard practices, project and program delivery in the engineering and construction markets
- Excellent customer engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is a plus
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or an equivalent recognized program or project management credential is a plus
- Master’s degree in management is a plus
- Ability to manage complex design projects valued between $10-$30M
- Experience managing and reporting on monthly financials, EAC’s, and ETC’s
- In-depth and strong knowledge of industry practices and regulations and permitting requirements
- Demonstrated success managing complex government contracts with multiple stakeholders
- A proven track record of influencing and driving outcomes without direct authority
- Experience operating within structured project management and collaboration environments (e.g., SharePoint, Jira, Confluence, MS Project or equivalent)
