Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a Principal Architect – Stations (Rail) to join our team on this large subway/metro program here in the UAE, a project that will have a long-lasting impact on the local community. In this role, you will provide architectural oversight and support to the Construction and Project Management departments, ensuring that the contractor's architectural work aligns with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. You will focus on the design and construction of diverse building and infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on transportation infrastructure, including railway stations.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Architectural Oversight: Provide expert oversight and guidance on all architectural aspects of the contractor's work, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Design Review: Conduct thorough reviews of architectural designs, drawings, and plans submitted by the contractor. Provide constructive feedback and recommendations for improvements.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure that all architectural work meets the required standards of excellence.
- Coordination: Collaborate closely with the contractor, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of architectural elements with other project components.
- Problem Solving: Identify and address any architectural issues or challenges that arise during the project. Develop and implement effective solutions to keep the project on track.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of all architectural activities, decisions, and changes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Compliance: Ensure that all architectural work complies with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management and stakeholders on the progress, challenges, and successes of the architectural aspects of the project.
- Sustainable Practices: Ensure designs incorporate sustainable practices and innovative solutions aligned with current architectural trends.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies during the design and construction phases.
- Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate with stakeholders to align expectations and resolve issues.
- Progress Reporting: Prepare progress reports and presentations to show the status of projects to senior management and third parties as required.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (B.Arch) or a related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience in architectural design and project management, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Licensed Architect (RA) or equivalent certification. LEED and PMP or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in architectural design software (AutoCAD) and project management tools. Experience with BIM is considered an advantage.
- In-depth knowledge of local Architectural and Building Codes. Extensive experience leading design teams on complex large-scale building projects, particularly in transportation infrastructure.
- Rail project experience is preferred.
- GCC experience is preferred.
- Must have experience in Client Interfacing roles

- Understanding of the delivery process and the functions inherent to construction management of large-scale projects.
- Ability to interface with all levels with project team, client, and others.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
- Ability to function in a multi-organizational environment by developing relationships that complies with the client’s proactive, collaborative culture.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English.
