This role requires strong technical expertise, field experience, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field surveys to locate, map, and document existing utility infrastructure, including underground and overhead utilities.

  • Prepare topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys to support utility diversion and construction activities.

  • Operate and maintain surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and 3D laser scanners to collect accurate data.

  • Provide survey data to assist in the planning and design of utility relocation and protection activities.

  • Identify potential conflicts between existing utilities and proposed construction plans, and provide accurate survey data to resolve issues.

  • Collaborate with engineers, utility providers, and contractors to ensure survey data meets project requirements.

  • Process and analyze survey data using software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or GIS platforms.

  • Maintain accurate records of survey data, utility locations, and as-built documentation.

  • Prepare detailed survey reports, maps, and drawings for project stakeholders.

  • Ensure all surveying activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as project-specific requirements.

  • Conduct quality control checks to verify the accuracy and reliability of survey data.

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and utility providers to schedule and execute survey activities.

  • Work closely with construction teams to provide real-time survey support during utility relocation and construction phases.

  • Address technical challenges in the field, such as access restrictions, utility conflicts, or data discrepancies.

  • Develop innovative solutions to overcome surveying challenges and ensure timely delivery of results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in surveying, with a focus on utility-related projects preferred.

  • Proficiency in surveying software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, GIS) and surveying equipment (e.g., GPS, total stations, 3D scanners).

  • Strong knowledge of utility systems, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), and construction processes.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
