This role requires a deep understanding of utility systems, engineering design, and regulatory compliance, as well as the ability to manage complex utility coordination efforts with multiple stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and engineering of utility diversion plans, including the relocation, protection, and modification of utility infrastructure (e.g., water, sewer, gas, electricity, telecommunications).

  • Ensure utility designs are integrated into the overall project plans and meet engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with utility providers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits, approvals, and agreements.

  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the project team and utility companies to resolve conflicts and ensure alignment.

  • Develop and manage utility diversion schedules, budgets, and resource plans.

  • Monitor progress and ensure utility-related activities are completed on time and within budget.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to project managers and construction teams.

  • Identify potential risks and conflicts related to utility infrastructure and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Conduct site investigations and utility conflict analyses to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Ensure all utility diversion activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as project-specific requirements.

  • Conduct quality assurance reviews of utility work to ensure adherence to design and safety standards.

  • Maintain accurate records of utility agreements, permits, design changes, and as-built documentation.

  • Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and recommendations to project stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in utility engineering, with at least 5 years focused on utility diversion for large infrastructure projects.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

  • Strong knowledge of utility systems, subsurface utility engineering (SUE), and construction processes.

  • Familiarity with utility permitting, regulatory requirements, and coordination with utility providers.

  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
