Pavement Engineer

Qatar

Parsons is looking for an experienced Pavement Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing pavement design, construction, and maintenance activities to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Conduct traffic analysis and develop traffic-related inputs to pavement design.
• Analyze geotechnical reports to assess subgrade conditions and incorporate findings into pavement design.
• Develop pavement designs using both empirical and mechanistic-empirical methods.
• Utilize design software and tools to model pavement performance.
• Ensure designs meet the requirements of QCS 2014 and QHDM.
• Identify and implement cost-effective design alternatives without compromising quality or performance.
• Ensure all designs adhere to the Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS 2014), Qatar Highway Design Manual (QHDM), and relevant Interim Advice Notes (IANs).
• Provide technical support during the construction phase.
• Address any pavement design-related issues that arise on-site.
• Prepare detailed design reports, specifications, and documentation for project stakeholders.
• Conduct thorough inspections of pavement construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and report on work progress, identifying potential delays or issues and recommending corrective actions to ensure the project remains on track.
• Inspect materials and workmanship to ensure they meet the required quality standards and specifications.
• Ensure proper documentation of all pavement works, including progress reports, safety reports, and quality control checks.
• Coordinate with the construction teams to ensure smooth execution of pavement works, such as asphalt paving, concrete paving, and surface treatments.
• Manage site safety, ensuring that all workers adhere to safety protocols and minimize risks associated with pavement works.
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services required for pavement works.
• Assist with testing and commissioning, ensuring that pavement components meet the necessary quality and functionality standards before handover.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
• Must be a certified engineer by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in Qatar.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in pavement engineering, with a proven track record in design and construction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Strong understanding of pavement design standards, codes, and regulations.
• Proficient in MS Office and project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Proactive problem-solving abilities and ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to supervise and guide a team.
• Ability to multitask and manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
• Familiarity with international construction standards and local codes, particularly in the Middle East or GCC.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and other pavement design software.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to review and check designs for accuracy and compliance.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects at the same time.
