Our Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), Maryland team is looking for an amazingly talented Mission Critical Linux/Windows Sr. System Administrator to join our team! The Candidate will support the day-to-day operations of the Parsons PALADIN Lab and our customers critical software development and integration missions. This support will include the installation, configuration, maintenance, failure analysis and recovery, performance monitoring, data storage management, troubleshooting. and information security management of mission computer servers and systems.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Perform server administration tasks (ex: user/group, installing and upgrading the servers, security permissions, group policies, print services); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly.
- Maintain internal infrastructure requirements, including laptop and desktop computers, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security updates; support internet, intranet, LANs, WANs, and network segments.
- Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups.
- Assists with the creation of custom system environments for ISR related system prototyping and development of system assessment / hardening techniques and usage of related IA software tools.
- Manages one or more of the following: file servers, web servers, email servers, directory servers, workstations, storage devices, network routing / switching devices, and firewalls to include physical and virtual instances of each.
- Software Integration testing and troubleshooting.
- Maintain the minimum certification for IA Technical Level II, which may be GSEC, Security+, SCNP or SSCP.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- A Bachelor's degree in or Computer Engineering; Computer Science, Electrical, Electronic, System, Software Engineering or related discipline.
- Ten (10) years or more demonstrated experience with Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, and CentOS).
- Ten (10) or more years of demonstrated experience with Windows operating systems (Windows for desktops and Server platforms).
- Ten (10) years of direct experience in the design, integration, configuration, and analysis of complex software systems, military electronics, computer networking, and digital and graphic display systems to include direct experience with Department of Defense System Engineering and software development processes.
- Experience working with, managing and maintaining VMWare environments
- Experience working with, managing and maintaining Kubernetes clusters
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Preferred experience working with user representatives and software developers to develop, integrate and perform interoperability testing between systems.
- Preferred direct experience with Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) software systems.
- Understanding of DEVSECOPS practices
