Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented PA Apron Field Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to provide on-site technical support and ensure the quality, safety, and compliance of construction and maintenance activities at the airport apron.

This role requires a hands-on approach to managing field operations, coordinating with contractors and airport authorities, and ensuring that all infrastructure work is completed to the highest standards and within regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a background in airport infrastructure and construction.

What You'll be Doing;

  • Provide technical engineering support for the construction, maintenance, and improvement of the airport apron area.
  • Supervise and coordinate field activities to ensure that apron construction and maintenance work adheres to design specifications, standards, and schedules.
  • Ensure that all apron-related construction activities, including pavements, markings, lighting, and utilities, meet safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure that construction and installation work meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Monitor the installation of apron infrastructure such as pavement, drainage, lighting, and signage to ensure compliance with airport and aviation standards.
  • Identify any deviations from the approved design and ensure corrective actions are taken in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other engineers to ensure that project activities are executed on time and within budget.
  • Liaise with the project manager and other stakeholders to report on progress, resolve issues, and ensure seamless communication between field teams and office-based staff.
  • Ensure that all materials, equipment, and resources required for the apron project are available and properly coordinated for efficient on-site operations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations related to the apron area, including Ground Handling Procedures (GHP), airfield operational safety, and hazardous materials management.
  • Implement measures to minimize operational disruptions and risks, ensuring safe and efficient apron operations for aircraft and ground services.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and environmental impact assessments, taking corrective actions when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation for all apron construction, maintenance, and repair activities, including daily reports, inspection logs, and as-built drawings.
  • Assist in preparing reports on progress, issues, and resolutions for submission to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Document any changes in design or scope during the construction phase and ensure that they are communicated to all relevant parties.
  • Identify and resolve any technical issues or challenges that arise during construction, including problems with materials, equipment, or the site.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations for on-site challenges, ensuring that construction remains on schedule and within budget.
  • Support the project team in finding solutions to unexpected site conditions, weather delays, or unforeseen complications.
  • Work closely with airport authorities to ensure that all apron activities align with airport operational needs, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate with air traffic control and ground services to ensure that construction work on the apron does not disrupt normal airport operations.
  • Communicate any potential disruptions or hazards to relevant airport authorities, ensuring proper planning and mitigation strategies.

What Required Skills You'll Bring;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in engineering roles within the aviation or construction industry, with specific experience working on apron or airfield projects.
  • Hands-on experience with apron pavement, drainage systems, lighting, signage, and other critical airfield infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations such as ICAO, FAA, or local aviation authorities.
  • In-depth knowledge of airport apron design, construction, and operations.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, pavement materials, and ground support infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple contractors and vendors in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot errors and resolve issues promptly.
  • Good organizational and project management skills.
  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Construction Management (e.g., CCM).
  • Experience with airport ground operations and airfield safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of international standards for airport infrastructure (ICAO, IATA).
  • Familiarity with Construction Management software (Procore, Buildertrend) and project scheduling tools.
