Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Maintenance Field Supervisor to join our team! In this role you will get to work in a demanding and challenging environment to help benefit the riding population of New York City Transit Buses.

What You'll Be Doing:

Plans and manages all pre-production planning and field or shop production activities associated with the installation of electrical, communications and control systems on mass transportation (buses and trains) by subcontractors and suppliers.  Applies a comprehensive knowledge of electrical, communications and controls installation practices, means and methods under various trades in providing the appropriate oversight in the planning, scheduling and management of installation, quality assurance verification, and testing activities in a safe and quality compliant environment.  Incumbent must be experienced in safety and quality practices, as well as general contract administration practices  typically found in the transportation industry for the type of work being performed.  In addition to production oversight and supervision, the incumbent is also responsible for general field administration, procurement coordination and subcontract administration support.  Applicant is expected to be physically present on a daily basis for the duration of each shift, willingness to relocate to project site locations is expected.

  • Develops production/installation plans, schedules,  work requirements, metrics, and controls to support the solicitation and procurement of installation subcontractors/suppliers, as well as award in reviewing and assessing the adequacy of responses, including price and schedule.
  • Initiates and conducts the “on-boarding” of subcontractors/suppliers following contract award and prior to the beginning of work activities advising them of their contractual performance obligations, project/site protocols and rules, responsibilities for safety and quality compliance , and other performance and administration requirements associated with their execution of the work. 
  • Provide written and photographical documentation for all subcontractor/supplier work activities on a daily basis in documenting subcontractor/supplier progress and performance, including deficiencies associated with resources, labor productivity, equipment utilization, quality and safety compliance, consistent with the needs to document and defend change order and claims.  
  • Provide leadership and oversight of assigned subcontractors/suppliers work in accomplishing the project schedule milestones, which includes the scheduling of, and/or attendance and participation to  weekly schedule meetings assuring proper scheduling, sequencing and resourcing of the work, and resolution of issues and constraints outside of subcontractors/suppliers’ contractual obligations, including coordination with other contractors.   
  • Monitor subcontractors/suppliers cost performance using established measures and metrics; apply measures for change management and claims avoidance; review, assess and process changes in coordination with subcontract administration; coordinate with legal on claim matters; review and approve subcontractor/supplier pay applications and maintain tracking measures to monitor subcontractors/suppliers cost performance.  
  • Provide oversight of subcontractors/supplier’s compliance to their quality control plan, including inspection requirements and reporting.  Work and communicate effectively with onsite customer representatives to assure a continuous and uninterrupted workflow. Coordinate with the project quality assurance manager on all quality matters including those requiring their timely participation and attention to assure the project’s contract quality objectives and reporting are achieved.
  • Support the awareness and adherence to the project safety program and requirements, with  review and oversight of the subcontractors/supplier’s safety performance and reporting in compliance to the project’s safety program and the subcontractors/suppliers safety plan, noting observed hazards and taking corrective actions.  Coordinate with the project’s safety manager on all matters in assuring subcontractor/supplier compliance to the site safety requirements and any deficiencies to the subcontractor/supplier’s safety plan.
  • Ensures effective implementation of all Company and client policies and procedures, including labor relations policies.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Associate's Degree (Preferred) and typically 10+ years of experience in field construction or shop production environment is required.  
  • Experience in the construction/production of mass transportation vehicles or industrial projects at domestic locations is preferred.
  • IPC-620 certification is required for this position, but can be provided after employment.

Salary Range: $35.05 - $61.35
