Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Logistics Director to lead the planning, implementation, and management of logistics operations for a large-scale infrastructure program. The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of sitewide logistics assets, ensure seamless coordination across multidisciplinary teams, and develop strategies for short-, mid-, and long-term logistics planning.

This role requires expertise in construction logistics, project controls, and stakeholder management, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, health and safety, and compliance with program requirements. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing logistics for complex mega projects, ensuring timely delivery of materials, resources, and infrastructure while minimizing disruptions to project schedules.

What You'll Be Doing:

Health, Safety, and Security:

  • Drive and lead the health, safety, wellbeing, and security culture on the project, empowering the team to operate in line with QIC policies, procedures, and MDU objectives.
  • Conduct safety investigations, inspections, and audits to maintain a safe working environment.

Logistics Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies to support the delivery of infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with program objectives.
  • Plan and manage sitewide logistics, including access routes, laydown areas, material storage, and construction traffic management.
  • Oversee the delivery of logistics assets and infrastructure, ensuring timely completion and readiness for project execution.

Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination:

  • Engage with client development leads, master planners, and concept designers to ensure logistics strategies are integrated into the program lifecycle.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to address logistics challenges and resolve conflicts.
  • Represent the client in logistics-related meetings, workshops, and presentations.

Operational Management:

  • Lead the implementation of logistics workplans and key documents in accordance with program requirements and industry best practices.
  • Monitor logistics operations to ensure adherence to corporate, contractual, ethics, and safety standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assign work to team members, oversee progress, and ensure timely completion of work assignments.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track and report on logistics KPIs (e.g., material delivery efficiency, site access utilization, congestion impacts), identifying areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and deliver regular updates, reports, and presentations to stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and solutions.

Risk Management and Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with logistics operations, developing contingency plans to address potential challenges.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety performance.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Provide visible and inclusive leadership, fostering a high-performance culture through clear direction, continuous feedback, and recognition of exceptional performance.
  • Mentor and coach team members to support their professional growth and foster collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Advanced Problem Solving:

  • Lead the resolution of unusually complex logistics challenges, providing innovative and creative solutions in coordination with functional leads.
  • Contribute to the development of advanced principles, theories, and concepts to optimize logistics operations.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Professional certifications such as PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 20+ years of experience in logistics management for mega construction and infrastructure projects, with strong expertise in multi-disciplinary coordination and project controls.
  • Proven track record of managing logistics operations for complex construction environments, ensuring timely delivery of materials and resources.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in logistics management software and tools, such as SAP, Oracle, or Primavera.
  • Strong knowledge of construction logistics, supply chain management, and inventory control.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and environmental compliance standards.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Competencies:

  • Proactive and delivery-focused, with a strong ability to align stakeholders around a common vision.
  • Skilled in managing teams and delivering results in a collaborative, cross-departmental environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and inspire high-performance teams.

  • Strong Stakeholder, Client, Designer and Contractor Management skills.
