Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Logistics Manager to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee the logistics operations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials, equipment, and labor. This position requires a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of construction logistics and supply chain management.
The successful candidate will manage logistics teams, develop and execute logistics plans, and ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with safety and regulatory standards, ultimately contributing to the successful completion of the airfield construction project.
What You'll Be Doing;
- Develop and implement logistics plans to ensure the timely delivery of materials, equipment, and resources to the construction site.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure logistics operations are aligned with construction schedules and requirements.
- Establish and monitor processes to efficiently manage the flow of materials, equipment, and workforce between various construction sites and storage areas.
- Oversee procurement, storage, and distribution of construction materials, ensuring they meet project specifications and are delivered on time.
- Work closely with suppliers and subcontractors to manage inventory and ensure materials are available for upcoming construction phases.
- Ensure all logistics processes comply with local regulations, environmental guidelines, and safety standards.
- Manage the logistics fleet (trucks, cranes, construction machinery, etc.), ensuring equipment is properly maintained, available when needed, and efficiently allocated.
- Develop strategies for equipment utilization, minimizing downtime and ensuring that equipment is deployed to areas where it is most needed.
- Ensure that all logistics equipment complies with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Develop detailed schedules for the movement of materials, equipment, and personnel to ensure all project timelines are met.
- Track and manage the allocation of resources, including human resources, equipment, and materials, ensuring they are utilized efficiently.
- Coordinate transportation and delivery schedules, avoiding delays and ensuring smooth operations.
- Ensure all logistics operations adhere to health and safety regulations and environmental guidelines, maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Develop and implement safety protocols for the handling and transportation of materials and equipment.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential risks and proactively address any issues.
- Develop and manage logistics budgets, ensuring that logistics costs are kept within project budget limits.
- Monitor and analyze logistics costs, identifying areas for cost savings and process improvements.
- Ensure that logistics operations are cost-effective and contribute to the overall efficiency and profitability of the project.
- Provide regular updates to project managers and senior leadership on logistics operations, including the status of materials, equipment, and workforce.
- Prepare reports on logistics performance, highlighting any issues or delays and suggesting corrective actions.
- Foster strong relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment on logistics objectives.
- Continuously assess and improve logistics processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall performance.
- Implement best practices for inventory management, transportation, and resource allocation.
- Leverage technology and software solutions to optimize logistics operations, including tracking systems, fleet management tools, and inventory management systems.
What Required Skills You'll Bring;
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, PMP) is preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in logistics management, with at least 10 years in the construction industry, ideally with experience in airfield or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, PMP) is preferred.
- Proven experience in managing logistics operations, supply chain management, and resource allocation.
- Strong background in managing equipment, materials, and transportation in a construction environment.
- In-depth knowledge of construction logistics, project management, and supply chain best practices.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess logistics needs, monitor performance, and implement improvements.
- Proficiency in logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar tools) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of managing relationships with various stakeholders.
- Professional certifications such as PMP, APICS, or equivalent in logistics or project management.
- Experience in Airfield or Airport Projects: Knowledge of logistics challenges specific to airfield and airport construction projects is highly advantageous.
- Advanced Technology Integration: Familiarity with advanced technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), GPS tracking, and logistics optimization software.
- Crisis Management: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage unexpected challenges and disruptions in logistics operations.
- Global Logistics Experience: Experience in managing logistics for international or multi-site construction projects is a plus.
