Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Legislative Affairs and Strategic Engagement Manager to join our team! In this role you will get to support the DoD Chief Information Officer (CIO) 5G Cross Functional Team (CFT) through direct congressional correspondence and various high-level engagements.
What You'll Be Doing:
Oversee strategic planning, outreach, and communications for the CFT Director’s engagements with industry partners.
In collaboration with 5G CFT Leadership and front office senior staff, identify strategic opportunities and policy priorities to facilitate CFT’s successful mission execution, per its NDAA and Deputy Secretary of Defense charters. Track legislative requirements of the CFT, managing internal planning and execution of Congressional engagements.
Draft, refine, and contribute to leadership deliverables, including briefing materials, memoranda, and reports within the Department, as well as Congressional deliverables.
Conceptualize and create preliminary designs and storyboards for visual messaging, collaborating closely with OSD Graphic designers to produce artwork and interactive displays to convey the narrative of the CFT.
Manage strategic communications for the CFT Team, to include developing an overarching plan as well as drafting messaging and talking points tailored to distinct audiences, including the general public, media/press, Department of Defense leadership, other U.S. government agencies, think tanks, and industry.
Ensure adherence to protocol and procedure in CFT’s Departmental outreach, written materials, and decorum (to include honorifics/forms of address, seating charts, briefing order, etc.), consulting with relevant OSD/Service front office counterparts to prepare and staff said briefings to senior stakeholders.
Flexible work schedule with 2-3 days in the office per week to maintain team collaboration, foster productivity, and support work-life balance, while ensuring all job responsibilities and organizational goals are met effectively.
What Skills You'll Bring:
10-15 Years of experience in strategic analysis, planning, and legislative portfolio management
Bachelors or Masters in Business, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
Knowledge and awareness of congressional processes, national security and policy
Strong written and oral communications skills
Proven track record of attention to detail in message conceptualization
Ability to ensure engagements directly align with and support mission objectives
A networking mindset aimed at constantly building connections that drive the mission
Active Top Secret/SCI clearance required
