What You'll Be Doing:

Field Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead and manage the special systems field engineering team, ensuring proper execution of installation, testing, and commissioning activities for various specialized systems (e.g., security systems, fire alarm systems, communication networks, building management systems).

  • Provide technical support and guidance to site personnel, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure systems are installed and tested according to design specifications and safety standards.

  • Coordinate field activities with other engineering disciplines to ensure all systems are integrated and function properly across the airport project.

Special Systems Installation and Commissioning:

  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of special systems, including CCTV, access control, public address systems, fire alarms, emergency communication systems, and building automation systems (BMS).

  • Ensure all systems are installed according to project specifications, including reviewing system designs, drawings, and documentation.

  • Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to ensure all specialized equipment is installed and operational.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct testing of all special systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with performance specifications.

  • Troubleshoot any issues identified during installation or testing, collaborating with design teams and vendors to resolve technical problems in a timely manner.

  • Lead the commissioning of systems, ensuring all operational checks and quality controls are met before handover.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure that all installations meet quality standards and comply with relevant codes, regulations, and project specifications.

  • Monitor work on-site to ensure that systems are installed according to approved designs and manufacturer specifications.

  • Review installation work for compliance with safety standards and quality assurance procedures.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all special systems-related matters on-site, coordinating with other engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and project management teams.

  • Participate in project meetings to discuss the progress of special systems installation, address issues, and ensure proper integration with other systems.

  • Provide daily updates on the status of special systems installations, including any challenges or delays that may impact the project timeline.

Safety Oversight:

  • Enforce all safety standards and protocols to ensure a safe work environment during the installation and testing of special systems.

  • Promote safety culture and conduct regular safety meetings and briefings for field teams.

  • Ensure all special systems work is performed in compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain detailed records of all field activities, including inspection reports, test results, system installations, and progress reports.

  • Ensure all modifications, issues, and resolutions are documented, and submit regular status updates to the project management team.

  • Provide timely documentation of the commissioning process, including test reports, system configurations, and as-built drawings.

Training and Mentoring:

  • Mentor and train junior engineers and field staff in the installation and commissioning of special systems.

  • Support the development of a high-performing team by providing leadership, guidance, and professional development opportunities.

  • Ensure that team members are trained in relevant safety practices, system operation, and troubleshooting.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Additional certifications or training in specialized systems (e.g., BMS, CCTV, fire alarm systems) are a plus.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in special systems engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or field engineering role

  • Proven experience in the installation, testing, and commissioning of special systems in complex infrastructure projects, particularly in airport or large-scale facilities.

  • In-depth knowledge of special systems such as CCTV, access control, fire alarm systems, BMS, and communication systems.

  • Strong understanding of systems integration and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and project documentation.

  • Experience with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).

  • Knowledge of airport-specific special systems and their integration (e.g., airport security systems, communication networks).

  • Familiarity with industry codes, standards, and regulations related to special systems (e.g., NFPA, IEC, NEC).

  • Proficiency in using testing equipment and tools for specialized systems.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage a team and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Certifications related to special systems (e.g., NICET for fire alarm systems, BMS certifications) are highly desirable.

  • Safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour, First Aid/CPR) are a plus.
