Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead SAS Field Engineer (Airside) to join our team! In this role you will get to be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SAS (Special Airport Systems) equipment and systems in airside operations.
This role requires a deep understanding of airport systems, strong technical skills, and the ability to lead a team of field engineers.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead and manage a team of field engineers in the installation, maintenance, and repair of SAS equipment and systems.
Ensure all SAS systems are functioning optimally and comply with airport regulations and standards.
Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of SAS equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to SAS systems.
Coordinate with airport authorities and other stakeholders to ensure seamless operations.
Provide technical support and training to field engineers and other staff.
Prepare and maintain documentation, including maintenance logs, technical reports, and system manuals.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in SAS technology and implement best practices.
Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures during all field operations.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
Minimum 10 years exp in total including 8+ years of experience in SAS systems, plus 2 years in a leadership role.
Experience working in airside operations at a major airport.
Strong knowledge of airport systems and regulations.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using technical tools and software related to SAS systems.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
Physical Requirements includes:
· Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment.
· Ability to work in various weather conditions.
· Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods.
Work Environment includes:
· Primarily airside operations at the airport.
· Exposure to high noise levels and varying weather conditions.
Technical expertise and experience with the following:
Airfield Lighting Systems: Runway and taxiway lighting, Approach lighting systems, Visual docking guidance systems (VDGS).
Navigational Aids: Instrument Landing Systems (ILS), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), VHF Omnidirectional Range (VOR).
Communication Systems: Air Traffic Control (ATC) communication systems, Ground-to-air communication systems, Airport intercom systems.
Security Systems: Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance, Access control systems, Perimeter intrusion detection systems.
Baggage Handling Systems: Automated baggage sorting and tracking systems, Conveyor belts and baggage carousels, Explosive detection systems (EDS).
Passenger Information Systems: Flight information display systems (FIDS), Public address systems, Interactive kiosks and wayfinding systems.
Weather Monitoring Systems: Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS), Runway surface condition sensors, Wind shear detection systems.
Ground Support Equipment: Aircraft ground power units (GPU), Pre-conditioned air units (PCA), Aircraft towing and pushback tractors.
Fueling Systems: Hydrant fueling systems, Mobile refueling trucks, Fuel storage and distribution systems.
Emergency Systems: Fire detection and suppression systems, Emergency communication systems, Rescue and firefighting equipment.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
Certification in SAS systems or related technologies.
