Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead Field Engineer to join our team!
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Field Engineer to oversee and manage all technical aspects of field operations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in engineering practices, project management, and on-site technical support. As a Lead Field Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers, ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget, and maintain high-quality standards. This role requires both technical proficiency and strong leadership skills to drive operational success in the field.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Field Operations and Engineering Support:
Lead the technical aspects of field operations, ensuring all engineering activities align with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
Provide technical support to the field team and resolve engineering issues on-site.
Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment or systems, ensuring quality control and compliance with design specifications.
Project Coordination and Management:
Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of field projects.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring all engineering tasks are completed on time.
Manage resources, including field engineers, technicians, and subcontractors, to ensure the efficient execution of field operations.
Technical Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of field engineers, providing guidance and support for professional development.
Ensure that all team members follow engineering best practices and safety protocols.
Resolve technical challenges in the field, working closely with design engineers to address any issues that arise during installation or testing.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Implement and enforce strict quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of engineering work.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with engineering designs and safety regulations.
Provide recommendations for process improvements and ensure continuous quality improvement across field operations.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
Act as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting engineering issues that arise on-site.
Lead root cause analysis efforts for field failures and implement corrective actions.
Provide technical solutions to mitigate risks and minimize downtime during project execution.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on all field sites.
Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Lead safety training for the field team to ensure they are up to date with safety standards and protocols.
Customer and Stakeholder Communication:
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and timelines.
Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of field operations, including technical challenges, risks, and progress.
Address client concerns or questions regarding technical aspects of the project and propose appropriate solutions.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and detailed records of field activities, including installation, testing, and commissioning processes.
Ensure all project documentation is up-to-date, including engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
Prepare and submit detailed reports on project progress, challenges, and outcomes to project stakeholders.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field). A Master’s degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in field engineering, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Proven experience in managing field operations and leading teams on large-scale engineering projects.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong technical knowledge in engineering disciplines related to the projects (mechanical, electrical, etc.).
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manuals.
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex field issues.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring and developing field engineers.
Knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards related to field operations.
Proficiency with field engineering tools, software, and technologies.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Professional certifications in relevant engineering disciplines (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma, etc.).
Experience with specific equipment or technology relevant to the industry (e.g., oil & gas, construction, etc.).
Familiarity with project management software and engineering tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, etc.).
Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with senior management, clients, and project stakeholders.
Experience in commissioning, start-up, or maintenance of complex systems or projects.
