Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Lead Engineer - Fuel to join our team!

The Lead Engineer – Fuel will be responsible for providing technical engineering support and coordination for the design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of aviation fuel systems and associated infrastructure. The role will ensure that fuel system engineering activities are delivered in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, applicable aviation fuel standards, international codes, and client requirements.

The position will coordinate closely with design consultants, contractors, construction teams, Quality, HSE, Planning, Procurement, Commissioning, and project management teams to ensure effective technical delivery and resolution of engineering issues throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and coordinate engineering activities related to aviation fuel systems and infrastructure.
  • Review and coordinate the design and technical delivery of fuel storage, distribution, transfer, and dispensing systems.
  • Review engineering deliverables for fuel pipelines, fuel hydrant systems, pumping stations, filtration systems, valve chambers, storage facilities, and associated infrastructure.
  • Review drawings, specifications, calculations, technical reports, equipment data sheets, and other engineering deliverables.
  • Ensure fuel system designs comply with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable industry standards.
  • Coordinate interfaces between Fuel Systems and Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, ICT, Fire & Life Safety, and Airfield disciplines.
  • Review fuel demand, flow requirements, system capacity, pressure requirements, and hydraulic calculations.
  • Review fuel pipeline routing, sizing, pressure losses, hydraulic profiles, and network arrangements.
  • Provide technical support for fuel pumping, transfer, filtration, metering, control, and monitoring systems.
  • Review technical requirements for pumps, valves, filters, meters, tanks, instrumentation, control panels, and associated equipment.
  • Support the technical review of fuel hydrant systems, including hydrant pits, isolation valves, control systems, and aircraft servicing interfaces where applicable.
  • Review design provisions for isolation, drainage, venting, pressure control, emergency shutdown, leak detection, and system safety.
  • Coordinate with relevant disciplines regarding hazardous area classification and equipment requirements.
  • Review vendor and contractor technical submittals and verify compliance with approved specifications.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, design clarifications, and site technical issues.
  • Provide engineering support to construction teams and assist in resolving technical issues encountered during installation.
  • Participate in design and constructability reviews and identify potential technical and interface issues.
  • Coordinate with Quality teams regarding inspection and testing requirements.
  • Review and support preparation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), testing procedures, and commissioning requirements.
  • Provide technical support during fuel system installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
  • Review and verify testing activities including pressure testing, pipeline integrity testing, flushing, cleaning, leak testing, and functional testing, as applicable.
  • Support commissioning teams during system start-up, functional testing, and performance verification.
  • Review technical documentation and ensure engineering records are maintained throughout project execution.
  • Review and coordinate as-built drawings, technical dossiers, O&M documentation, and handover requirements.
  • Support the assessment of design changes, technical alternatives, and engineering variations.
  • Provide technical input for engineering-related changes and potential claims.
  • Identify technical risks, design gaps, constructability issues, and interface constraints and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Participate in engineering coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Track engineering actions, technical comments, RFIs, and design deliverables to ensure timely closure.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable JIG, EI/JIG, NFPA, API, ASME, ASTM, IEC, ISO, and other relevant standards, as applicable to the project.
  • Support the development of technical solutions that improve system reliability, maintainability, safety, and operational performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Fuel Engineers and junior engineering personnel.
  • Maintain effective communication with construction and commissioning teams to ensure engineering requirements are properly implemented on site.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, with experience in aviation fuel systems, fuel infrastructure, oil & gas, pipelines, or similar complex infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in fuel system engineering, design coordination, construction support, or commissioning.
  • Airport / aviation fuel experience is highly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of fuel storage, transfer, distribution, hydrant, pumping, filtration, and metering systems.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
  • Good understanding of engineering design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
  • Professional Engineering certification is preferred.
  • Relevant aviation fuel / fuel systems training or certification is highly desirable.
  • Training related to JIG, EI/JIG, API, NFPA, ASME, ASTM, or other applicable industry standards is an advantage.
  • PMP or project management training is an advantage.
  • Relevant HSE certifications are an advantage.
