Job Description:

Interface Engineer - Civil and MEP (Design)

Dubai, UAE

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interface Engineer - Civil and MEP to join our Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team. The candidate will play a key role in managing and coordinating the interfaces between civil, structural, and MEP systems to ensure seamless project execution. The role requires effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical challenges, maintain quality standards, and meet project timelines.

The Interface Engineer will play a strategic role in bridging the gaps between diverse project elements. The successful candidate must have a deep understanding of civil and MEP systems and their interdependencies. Effective coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential to prevent costly delays, avoidable conflicts, and quality issues that can compromise project outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing:

Interface Management Coordination:

  • Collaborate with various teams, including civil, structural, MEP, and other specialty contractors, to define and manage interface points. Develop and maintain an interface management plan to outline roles, responsibilities, and communication protocols.

  • Identification and Resolution:
Proactively identify potential conflicts or gaps in design and construction interfaces. Facilitate technical meetings to resolve these issues, ensuring a unified approach to problem-solving.

  • Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of interface agreements, decisions, and issues to ensure traceability and effective communication among project stakeholders.

Design and Compliance Oversight

  • Design Reviews:
Evaluate design submissions to ensure the integration of civil and MEP systems is practical and compliant with project requirements, codes, and standards.

  • Compliance Assurance:
Ensure designs adhere to local regulatory frameworks, health and safety standards, and industry best practices. Address discrepancies and propose solutions where necessary.

Construction Support

  • On-Site Coordination:
Work closely with construction teams to monitor progress and ensure that civil and MEP systems are installed and integrated correctly. Address technical challenges arising during construction activities.

  • Testing and Commissioning:
Participate in system inspections, testing, and commissioning phases to verify that integrated systems meet performance and quality benchmarks.

Risk and Change Management

  • Risk Mitigation:
Identify risks associated with interface management, propose mitigation strategies, and monitor their implementation.

  • Change Control:
Assess and document the impact of design or construction changes on interface requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of changes while minimizing project delays and cost impacts.

Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting

  • Collaboration:
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities, regarding interface-related matters.

  • Reporting:
Prepare regular progress reports, highlighting interface challenges, resolutions, and overall status for presentation to senior management and stakeholders.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant design experience in civil and MEP interface management, preferably in a PMC environment.

  • Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure, Metro, or Building projects.

  • Strong understanding of civil and MEP systems integration.

  • Knowledge of BIM and digital twin technologies.

  • Proficiency in design review software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).

  • Experience working with local authorities and regulatory requirements.

  • Familiarity with project management methodologies, tools, and standards.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
