Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented GIS Specialist to join our team!

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead GIS activities and provide specialist geospatial support across the project.
  • Develop, manage, and maintain project GIS databases and geodatabases.
  • Collect, process, validate, analyze, and visualize spatial data.
  • Maintain accurate GIS layers for project infrastructure, utilities, buildings, roads, pavements, drainage, and other assets.
  • Integrate survey, CAD, BIM, GPS, satellite, drone, and field data into GIS platforms.
  • Ensure all spatial information is correctly georeferenced and aligned with approved project coordinate systems.
  • Review GIS data for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Establish and maintain GIS data standards, naming conventions, metadata, and data structures.
  • Perform spatial analysis to support engineering, construction, planning, logistics, and asset management activities.
  • Develop and maintain GIS maps, drawings, dashboards, and visualization products.
  • Support project teams with spatial queries, analysis, and geospatial information requirements.
  • Coordinate with Survey teams to ensure accurate survey control, coordinates, benchmarks, and spatial datasets.
  • Coordinate with BIM teams to integrate BIM models and GIS datasets where required.
  • Support integration between GIS, BIM, CAD, CDE, and asset management systems.
  • Perform data conversion between different GIS, CAD, and engineering formats.
  • Manage geospatial data imports, exports, editing, cleaning, and transformation.
  • Maintain metadata and ensure traceability of GIS datasets.
  • Identify data gaps, inconsistencies, duplication, and spatial conflicts.
  • Conduct GIS quality assurance and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support development of automated GIS workflows and data management processes.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior GIS staff and project teams.
  • Prepare GIS reports, maps, dashboards, and technical presentations.
  • Maintain GIS registers, data inventories, issue logs, and data quality reports.
  • Support digital handover and asset information requirements.
  • Ensure GIS information remains current throughout design, construction, commissioning, and handover.

Airport / Infrastructure & Airfield Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain GIS datasets for airport terminals, airfield facilities, runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, utilities, drainage, and external infrastructure.
  • Support management of airport-wide spatial information and infrastructure databases.
  • Maintain GIS information for airside and landside assets.
  • Coordinate spatial data for airport utilities, including water, sewerage, stormwater, electrical, telecom, and other underground services.
  • Support mapping and analysis of existing and proposed infrastructure.
  • Identify spatial conflicts between new works, existing assets, utilities, and project interfaces.
  • Support airport construction planning through spatial analysis and GIS visualization.
  • Develop GIS outputs to support construction access, logistics, work zones, temporary facilities, and phased construction.
  • Support coordination of airfield infrastructure and airport asset information.
  • Ensure airport-specific coordinate reference systems and geospatial requirements are correctly implemented.
  • Support integration of as-built information into the final GIS environment.

GIS Data Management

  • Develop and maintain enterprise and project-level geodatabases.
  • Manage vector and raster datasets, including points, lines, polygons, imagery, terrain, and infrastructure layers.
  • Establish data validation rules and quality control procedures.
  • Maintain attribute data and ensure required asset information is complete.
  • Develop and maintain metadata in accordance with project standards.
  • Manage GIS data versioning, updates, revisions, and approvals.
  • Ensure data is backed up and maintained in accordance with project information management procedures.
  • Coordinate GIS data exchanges with Consultants, Contractors, Client teams, and other stakeholders.

Spatial Analysis & Visualization

  • Perform spatial analysis to support engineering and construction decision-making.
  • Analyze proximity, connectivity, accessibility, utility corridors, infrastructure interfaces, and site constraints.
  • Develop thematic maps and spatial dashboards.
  • Produce GIS-based visualizations for management and technical presentations.
  • Support spatial analysis of construction progress and project development.
  • Develop interactive GIS dashboards where required.
  • Provide geospatial information to support risk identification and project planning.

Survey & Engineering Coordination

  • Coordinate with Survey teams to ensure consistency between survey data and GIS datasets.
  • Integrate topographical surveys, as-built surveys, GPS data, and field observations into GIS.
  • Support verification of infrastructure locations and asset coordinates.
  • Coordinate with Civil, Utilities, Roads, Drainage, Structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Support identification of spatial discrepancies between drawings, surveys, GIS data, and site conditions.
  • Provide GIS information to support technical queries, design reviews, construction coordination, and field activities.

Digital Handover & Asset Management

  • Support the development of GIS-based asset registers and infrastructure databases.
  • Ensure asset locations and attributes are accurately captured for handover.
  • Coordinate with Commissioning and Asset Management teams to ensure GIS data meets operational requirements.
  • Support integration of GIS information with CAFM, IWMS, EAM, or other asset management platforms.
  • Verify final as-built GIS information against approved records and site conditions.
  • Prepare GIS datasets and documentation required for project handover.
  • Ensure final GIS information is complete, accurate, traceable, and properly structured.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geomatics, Surveying, Geography, Civil Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in GIS, geospatial information management, infrastructure mapping, or digital engineering.
  • Strong experience working on major infrastructure, airport, transportation, utilities, or multidisciplinary construction projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, or equivalent GIS platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of geodatabases, spatial analysis, data management, and GIS visualization.
  • Experience with CAD and engineering data integration, including AutoCAD / Civil 3D, is highly desirable.
  • Experience integrating GIS with BIM, survey, asset management, and CDE environments.
  • Strong knowledge of coordinate reference systems, projections, georeferencing, and spatial data standards.
  • Experience managing underground utilities and infrastructure GIS datasets is preferred.
  • Experience with airport / airfield GIS and asset information is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Python, FME, SQL, or other GIS automation and data management tools is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of relevant GIS and information management standards is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
