Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented GIS Specialist to join our team! In this role you will get to be part of a dynamic team delivering excellence.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Lead the preparation, review, and execution of GIS implementation/management plans at the program/project level.

• Create and maintain digital maps for various projects using GIS capabilities.

• Perform effective data analysis, input, and data cleansing to uncover patterns, trends, and insights in geospatial data, improving data quality and accuracy.

• Apply geoprocessing techniques to manipulate and analyze geospatial data, creating new information to solve geographical problems.

• Define topology rules to enforce data integrity and accuracy.

• Advance data completeness to support reliable spatial analysis and decision-making.

• Conduct basic and advanced editing and digitization to achieve accurate conversion of analog maps or geospatial data into digital format.

• Use desktop and web applications responsibly for spatial analysis and data sharing.

• Utilize workbenches for transforming and converting geospatial data.

• Develop custom GIS applications to support the wider team in solving spatial problems.

• Draft special provisions and review system/database compliance.

• Provide technical guidance and training to team members, including reviewing GIS deliverables and contributing to training manuals/videos.

• Mentor and coach junior staff on GIS software and applications.

• Review deliverables from equal or less-experienced team members.

• Act in an advisory capacity to senior management and production staff on GIS-related matters.

• Assist the team in responding to client queries and requests.

• Provide input to clients and others working on the same project.

• Collaborate with project teams to lead spatial data/analysis for decision-making.

• Interface regularly with other departments on work assignments.

• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent work experience).

• 10+ years of related work experience.

• Familiarity with core GIS, CAD, and BIM software.

• Proficient knowledge of GIS software/database packages, workflows, hardware/software deployment processes, troubleshooting, and capability assessments.

• Strong skills in analyzing and problem-solving geospatial data, with knowledge of QA/QC practices, geoprocessing, data management standards, data model structures, and data transformation.

• Ability to implement database design elements for efficient querying and analysis.

• Experience implementing data model structures to accurately represent geographic features and spatial relationships.

• Skilled in utilizing web services and mobile applications.

• Capable of supporting Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) workbenches for data transformation and conversion.

• Ability to automate tasks, customize functionalities, and perform complex spatial analyses in GIS using Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.

• Skilled in utilizing model builders and customized tools for geospatial tasks.

• Ability to produce scaled maps with excellent cartographic design.

• Effective computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

• Ability to mentor, guide, supervise, and train team members in GIS deliverables and prepare training manuals/videos.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
