GIS Manager

Location: Abu Dhabi

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Manager to oversee the preparation, verification, and organization of GIS data for infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing GIS data packages, ensuring they meet authority and client standards, and coordinating effectively with project teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

“What You’ll Be Doing”

• GIS Preparation: Create comprehensive GIS data packages, ensuring all necessary layers, metadata, and formats meet the standards set by authorities and client. These packages will include spatial data, maps, and relevant documentation for project handover and compliance.
• Data Verification: Validate GIS data accuracy and completeness, ensuring alignment with as-built documents and regulatory standards for both completed and ongoing projects.
• Data Organization and Documentation: Structure data into necessary layers (e.g., roads, utilities) and prepare metadata and file formats that meet authority and project-specific requirements.
• Coordination with Authorities: Conduct pre-submission meetings with authorities to confirm data standards, submit GIS packages, and adhere to specified data transfer protocols for project handovers.
• Ongoing Project Coordination: Collaborate with project team and GIS teams from consultants and contractors on active projects, reviewing their submissions for compliance and providing guidance on data standards and quality.
• Feedback Management: Address feedback from authorities, adjust data as needed, and document changes for resubmission if required.
• Final Handover and Archiving: Obtain approval and sign-off from authorities, and archive the final GIS data for completed projects for future reference.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent).
• 10+ years of relevant experience in GIS management, particularly in infrastructure projects with a focus on data handover processes.
• Strong proficiency in GIS software (ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS), AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation, and MS Office.
• Excellent communication skills and experience in coordinating with clients, authorities, consultants, and contractors.
• Knowledge of local regulatory requirements and experience managing GIS data in compliance with Abu Dhabi’s standards.
