GIS Specialist
Dubai, UAE
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented GIS Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to provide support in GIS Infrastructure and Utilities Data Management.
What You'll Be Doing:
Collaborating with road, utilities, and master planning teams to integrate GIS into infrastructure design and planning processes.
Supporting infrastructure projects by providing GIS expertise in road, utility, duct, and master plan design.
Managing and maintaining geospatial datasets, ensuring data integrity and accessibility across departments.
Performing advanced spatial analysis and geoprocessing using Esri GIS tools to support decision-making.
Sharing GIS data and creating dashboards/reports to track project progress and key metrics.
Communicating GIS findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations.
Mentoring junior GIS staff and contributing to the development of training materials and best practices.
Facilitating cross-department collaboration, ensuring GIS aligns with overall project goals.
Solving complex geospatial challenges to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics and/ or Surveying Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum 8 years of related work experience, including experience with Esri GIS products and technologies such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Dashboards.
Proficiency in Geo-BIM/ CAD/ ArcGIS Pro.
Experience in infrastructure and utilities Data Management.
Spatial Data Analysis & Geoprocessing: Advanced skills in analyzing complex geospatial data, performing geoprocessing tasks, and transforming data to solve infrastructure-related problems.
GIS Integration & Collaboration: Ability to integrate GIS workflows with cross-functional teams, including road design, utilities, and master planning, ensuring geospatial data supports project objectives and decision-making.
Data Management & Quality Assurance: Strong experience in managing large-scale geospatial datasets, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across multiple departments and projects.
Stakeholder Communication & Presentation: Excellent communication skills with the ability to present GIS findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and alignment across teams.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with diverse teams, ensuring GIS solutions are aligned with project goals and deliverables, and effectively supporting infrastructure design processes.
Problem-Solving & Innovation: Strong problem-solving abilities, with a track record of addressing complex GIS challenges and developing innovative solutions for infrastructure projects.
Technical Proficiency in Software: Familiarity with other relevant software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), and experience with GIS-related programming languages like Python for task automation and customization.
Adaptability & Project Management: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, manage multiple priorities, and support various aspects of infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Experience with GIS applications in road design, utilities, and master planning.
Expertise in scripting and automating GIS tasks using Python, JavaScript, or ModelBuilder.
Experience creating and maintaining GIS dashboards for tracking project metrics and visualizing data.
Familiarity with cloud-based GIS solutions like ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
Ability to integrate GIS data with other systems (e.g., CAD, BIM, engineering software).
Strong cartographic skills for producing high-quality, visually compelling maps.
Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
Knowledge of data security practices and compliance related to geospatial data.
Excellent presentation and documentation skills, especially for communicating complex GIS findings.
