Opportunity :
Parsons Construction Group has an immediate role open for a Construction Superintendent to work with our heavy civil projects in the Greater Los Angeles County area. We are seeking a candidate with experience from the “ self perform” contractor side of heavy civil work. This role will plan, organize, and supervise specific portions of construction work such as mechanical, rigging, electrical, etc. Applies expertise and specialized talents to guide the efforts of the assigned craft. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected.
Responsibilities:
- Organizes and allocates the workforces in various areas to maintain adequate manpower balance for the scheduled construction activities.
- Monitors manpower requirements, efficiency, and productivity of construction crews.
- Coordinates the material and equipment requirements with planned engineering and construction schedules.
- Provides technical direction in construction methods to craft supervisors and foremen to attain required quality control.
- Assists in the selection and designation of craft foremen.
- Verifies layouts with field engineers and ensures craftsmen maintain the established horizontal and vertical controls.
- Coordinates work efforts between various subcontractors and company workforce.
- Maintains production controls and verifies the construction progress at prescribed intervals.
- Understands and applies the company labor relations policies.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Requirements :
- 4-year degree in construction-related field (or equivalent construction-related work experience), as well as 8 to 10 years of experience in field construction is required. Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred.
Skills / Competencies :
- Support of Excavation Supt should have hands on experience with pile driving and with installation of strut/waler/lagging support systems.
- Structures Supt should have hands on experience in supervising and forming and placing crews. Treatment plant or underground experience is a plus.
- Requires a comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a familiarity with industry practices. Proven leadership capability is required.
