Job Description:
Parsons is seeking an experienced Fixed Telecommunication Expert to join our team for a major rail project in the UAE. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, design review, and independent assurance of fixed telecommunication systems, including fiber optic networks, structured cabling, and communication backbone systems.
The role focuses on design review, quality assurance, contractor oversight, and interface management, ensuring that telecommunication systems meet project requirements, international standards, and operational readiness objectives.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide expert technical guidance and independent assurance for all fixed telecommunication systems within the rail project.
Review and approve contractor design submissions, schematics, drawings, and specifications for compliance with project requirements and international standards.
Ensure telecommunication systems support all rail operational and safety requirements, including signaling, SCADA, CCTV, and operational communication networks.
Evaluate contractor methodologies, installation procedures, and quality control processes for telecommunication infrastructure.
Review and verify network design, redundancy, capacity, and performance to ensure reliability and resilience.
Oversee the integration of telecommunication systems with signaling, SCADA, security, and operational systems.
Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigation related to telecommunication systems.
Support handover, operational readiness, and testing & commissioning reviews for telecommunication systems.
Participate in design review workshops, coordination meetings, and interface management sessions as the subject matter expert (SME).
Prepare technical reports, dashboards, and recommendations for the Client and senior management regarding telecommunication design compliance and performance.
Mentor and guide PMC team members on telecommunication system design, integration, and best practices.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (Master’s preferred).
Minimum 15 years of professional experience in rail or metro fixed telecommunication systems.
Expertise in fiber optic networks, structured cabling, backbone communication systems, and network integration.
Strong understanding of systems integration, reliability, and operational communication requirements.
Familiarity with international standards for railway telecommunication systems.
Experience coordinating interfaces between telecom, signaling, SCADA, security, and civil systems.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in design and review tools such as AutoCAD, Bentley, or specialized telecom software.
