Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Environmental Idle Site Maintenance Technician to join our team! In this role you will get to lead and/or supervise the completion of a wide variety of vegetation maintenance tasks supporting a large portfolio of idle upstream oil and gas sites.
This is a part-time position working on an as-needed basis weekly and hours will vary depending on needs and season.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Providing technical guidance and supervision to other employees and suppliers within the work group, monitoring productivity and proficiency to ensure assignments are completed on time and budget.
- Performing and/or supervising the completion of non-routine labor tasks related to field environmental surveys or idle upstream facility site maintenance (including mowing, hand cutting, weed spraying, grading, snow plowing, etc.).
- Complete facility security checks to monitor for trespassing and/or vandalism and routine building facility checks to ensure building services (heat, water, power, etc.) are maintained.
- Prepare reports that document findings and results of field activities.
- Traveling to idle upstream sites primarily located in the Leduc and Pigeon Lake areas of Alberta.
- Implementing health and safety practices in the field, including the completion of Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), job observations, hazard assessments, project field reports and field notes. Worker will be responsible for leading tailgate discussions and communicating safety topics, as well as monitoring work crews to ensure tasks are completed safely.
- Work closely with project coordinators/managers and landowners to ensure that work is completed thoroughly, on time and within budget.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
- Diploma in Environmental or related field and 4+ years of relevant experience
- High level of integrity and accountability
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to interact effectively with others
- Ability to work overtime, as needed
- Valid class 5 driver's license, with experience and proficiency driving on lease roads and in inclement weather conditions
- Proficient digital skills, including computers and cell phone apps such as Teams/Zoom, digital forms, LSD navigation, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Strong conflict resolution skills
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize several assignments simultaneously
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
- Understanding of safe work practices and risk mitigation
- Experience working on upstream or downstream oil and gas sites
- Knowledge of the Alberta township survey system (LSD coordinates)
- 3+ years' experience supervising or leading teams
