Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Electrical Lead Engineer to lead the electrical engineering design review, technical coordination, construction support, and systems integration activities for a major Airport, Infrastructure, and Airfield Development Project. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for electrical systems associated with passenger terminals, concourses, cargo facilities, airfield infrastructure, runways, taxiways, aircraft aprons, airport support facilities, and associated utilities.

The Electrical Lead Engineer will oversee the review and coordination of electrical engineering solutions including medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) distribution systems, substations, emergency power systems, lighting systems, airfield lighting interfaces, grounding and lightning protection, and electrical infrastructure integration.

The role requires extensive experience in airport electrical systems, multidisciplinary coordination, construction supervision, testing and commissioning, and compliance with international aviation standards and project requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and manage electrical engineering activities across the airport development program.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to electrical engineers, designers, consultants, and contractors.
  • Establish electrical engineering review processes, technical standards, and delivery requirements.
  • Ensure electrical engineering deliverables align with project objectives, contractual requirements, and operational needs.
  • Lead the review of electrical designs, calculations, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and engineering submissions.
  • Review electrical systems associated with:
    • Passenger terminals and airport buildings.
    • Cargo terminals and logistics facilities.
    • Airfield operational facilities.
    • Maintenance buildings and support infrastructure.
    • Utility and infrastructure facilities.
  • Verify compliance with project specifications, international standards, airport requirements, and authority regulations.
  • Support value engineering initiatives to optimize reliability, energy efficiency, maintainability, and lifecycle performance.
  • Review and coordinate MV/LV power distribution systems including substations, transformers, switchgear, panels, and distribution networks.
  • Assess electrical load calculations, power studies, voltage drop analysis, short circuit studies, and protection coordination.
  • Review emergency power systems including generators, UPS systems, and critical power distribution.
  • Ensure redundancy, resilience, and operational continuity requirements are incorporated into electrical designs.
  • Coordinate integration with airport operational systems and critical facilities.
  • Review electrical interfaces associated with:
    • Runways, taxiways, and aircraft stands.
    • Airfield lighting systems and associated power infrastructure.
    • Visual navigation aids and operational support systems.
    • Passenger terminal systems and specialist airport facilities.
  • Coordinate electrical requirements with Airfield, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, ICT, Security, and Baggage Handling disciplines.
  • Ensure proper integration of electrical systems within airport infrastructure.
  • Review internal and external lighting designs including terminal lighting, roads, parking areas, and airfield-related lighting interfaces.
  • Verify compliance with lighting standards, energy efficiency requirements, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate lighting control systems, intelligent lighting solutions, and Building Management System (BMS) interfaces.
  • Review grounding, bonding, and lightning protection systems.
  • Provide electrical engineering support during construction, installation, testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
  • Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, and technical queries.
  • Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with approved electrical designs and project specifications.
  • Support resolution of electrical technical issues affecting project delivery.
  • Witness testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems.
  • Coordinate with the Client, airport authorities, utility providers, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies on electrical engineering matters.
  • Support technical approvals, authority submissions, and design review processes.
  • Participate in technical workshops, coordination meetings, and engineering reviews.
  • Ensure effective management of electrical interfaces across project stakeholders.
  • Ensure electrical works comply with project specifications, quality requirements, and international standards.
  • Participate in technical audits, inspections, and engineering reviews.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with approved electrical procedures and construction methodologies.
  • Review testing records, inspection reports, and commissioning documentation.
  • Support implementation of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and review electrical engineering reports, technical assessments, design comments, and engineering recommendations.
  • Maintain records of electrical design reviews, approvals, technical decisions, and site observations.
  • Provide regular updates to Project Management regarding engineering progress, risks, and technical challenges.
  • Support preparation of project closeout documentation, operation manuals, and asset handover requirements.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline.
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems is considered an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical engineering design, review, and construction supervision.
  • Proven experience on major airport, aviation, infrastructure, or large-scale transportation projects.
  • Strong experience with MV/LV power distribution, substations, emergency power systems, lighting systems, and electrical infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering electrical systems for:
    • Passenger terminals.
    • Cargo facilities.
    • Airfield infrastructure.
    • Airport support buildings.
    • Critical operational facilities.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power distribution systems, and airport electrical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of international electrical standards including IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, BS/EN standards, and local authority requirements.
  • Understanding of airport electrical requirements and operational resilience standards.
  • Experience with electrical design software and analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, Dialux, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with BIM platforms and multidisciplinary coordination processes.
  • Strong technical review, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex airport project environment.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent professional registration.
  • Experience on international airport expansion or greenfield airport development projects.
  • Knowledge of ICAO standards, FAA requirements, and aviation electrical systems.
  • Experience with airfield lighting systems (AGL), approach lighting systems, and navigational aid power requirements.
  • Experience working under FIDIC or similar international contract frameworks.
  • Experience supporting Design-Build, EPC, PMC, or Delivery Partner project delivery models.
  • Knowledge of smart grid solutions, renewable energy integration, and sustainable airport infrastructure.
  • Strong authority coordination and stakeholder management experience.
