Job Description:

Design Manager (Architect)

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Manager (Architect)- to join our team! In this role you will get to lead the technical design and delivery efforts on a multidisciplinary team, including external consultants/ contractors, with the objective to deliver a hospitality refurbishment, revised masterplan,  and new infrastructure in a island/marine environment in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Manages and oversees design consultants to ensure that design work remains on schedule, within budget and expectations.

• Coordinates design phase activities/deliverables with architects, engineers, sub-consultants, stakeholders, agencies, relevant authorities, tenants, etc. relative to the project infrastructure design.

• Chairs and conducts design progress and coordination meetings, prepares agendas, coordinates presentation material and prepares meeting minutes for same.

• Closely liaises with Client/ PMC Engineering Support, Design Managers, Construction Managers and/or External Consultants of interfacing projects during deliverable reviews to ensure quality, completeness and expectations for design deliverable documentation.

• Ensures timely issuance of multiple construction tender packages.

• Coordinates constructability reviews, value engineering exercises and construction submittal reviews by consultants.

• Reviews and provides input on variations and change orders relating to design. 

• Manages validation of record documents and post occupancy evaluations.

• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position during construction as required.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• 15 years minimum experience with Hospitality, Master Planning, Infrastructure, and/or Island/Marine Development projects in design and construction services experience.

• Minimum of 5 years in a design management role.

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture - professional registration preferred.

• Hospitality / Hotel, Infrastructure, Master Planning, and/or Civil/Marine Experience – client preference to prioritize candidates which possesses a holistic background of all these project typologies listed

• Proven, successful experience in coordination and facilitation of stakeholders, agencies and end-users requirements.

• Further experience developing projects in a marine environment i.e. on site on an island or islands

• Professional affiliation/ registration to relevant, internationally recognized authority

• 1-5 years’ experience in Abu Dhabi

• Communication Expertise – English Language Mastery

• High Proficiency Software Skills with: MS Office, AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign/Photoshop/Illustrator/Acrobat Pro etc., Bluebeam Revu, Revit, Sketch-Up, BIM.

• Due to client interfaces, client prioritizes candidates with prior experience in international consultancy within specific markets ranging from the USA, Canada, UK (and associated Commonwealth), Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and UAE.

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

• Master’s degree in architecture or related technical or business degree

• Intermediate Proficiency Software Skills with: MS PowerBI

• Horizontal and Vertical Design/Construction Delivery Experience

• Exposure to the UAE Development Market

• Ability to work and successfully deliver a project safely on time, within budget, of the highest quality in fast paced environment with a high-profile client and aggressive program
