Job Description:
Parsons is looking for a highly experienced Design Interface Manager – Wet Utilities to oversee the integration and coordination of wet utility systems across all design and construction phases of a major airfield development project.
This role is critical to managing design interfaces between infrastructure disciplines (potable water, firefighting, stormwater, sewage, irrigation) and ensuring seamless coordination with design consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies. The ideal candidate will have 15 years of experience in wet utilities design and interface management, preferably on large-scale aviation, transportation, or urban infrastructure projects.
What You'll Be Doing;
- Lead and manage all design interface activities related to wet utilities, ensuring alignment across disciplines (civil, structural, MEP, environmental, etc.).
- Serve as the primary point of contact between design consultants, contractors, and client teams for all wet utility systems.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts, interface issues, and spatial coordination challenges.
- Review and approve wet utility designs (water supply, wastewater, stormwater, firewater, irrigation) for compliance with project specifications, local codes, and international standards.
- Oversee clash detection and resolution using BIM and other digital tools.
- Ensure that hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, layouts, and utility corridors are technically sound and constructible.
- Coordinate closely with local authorities and utility service providers to secure design NOCs, permits, and approvals.
- Ensure wet utility systems are designed in compliance with airport authority requirements and environmental standards.
- Support design change management, risk identification, and mitigation strategies for interface issues.
- Monitor design progress, identify critical interface risks, and support schedule integration with construction teams.
- Facilitate design workshops, interface coordination meetings, and technical reviews with multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide expert input to construction sequencing, utility phasing, and commissioning plans.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in wet utility design and interface management, with at least 5 years in a coordination or management role.
- Proven experience working on large-scale infrastructure or aviation projects involving complex utility interfaces.
- Strong knowledge of wet utility systems (potable water, stormwater, sewerage, firefighting, irrigation) and relevant design codes.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and interface management tools; familiarity with BIM and Navisworks is highly preferred.
- Understanding of hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS).
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with multidisciplinary teams and complex approval processes.
- Chartered Engineer status (e.g., CEng, PE) or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Experience with airport/airfield utility design standards (ICAO, FAA, NFPA).
- Knowledge of sustainable water infrastructure and low-impact design (LID) principles.
- Experience coordinating with governmental and municipal utility authorities in the region.
- Proficiency in Arabic is an advantage.
