In this role you will get to play a critical role in ensuring the seamless integration of multidisciplinary design components on a major infrastructure project. This position requires exceptional coordination skills, a detailed understanding of engineering design processes, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.

The successful candidate will drive interface resolution, design integration, and alignment across the project lifecycle to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.

What You'll Be Doing;

  • Lead and manage all design interface activities between engineering disciplines (civil, structural, MEP, architectural, etc.) and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure design consistency and alignment across all project components, identifying and resolving interface conflicts early in the design phase.
  • Act as the primary liaison between design consultants, contractors, and client technical teams.
  • Oversee the development of coordinated design deliverables across all packages and disciplines.
  • Ensure that the design complies with project requirements, codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Review and validate interface documents such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Matrices, and integration drawings.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, utility agencies, authorities, and client representatives to ensure seamless integration of their requirements into the design.
  • Facilitate interface coordination meetings and ensure resolution of technical issues and conflicting requirements.
  • Coordinate inputs and responses from design teams to stakeholder reviews and feedback.
  • Lead design review processes to validate the interface points and compatibility of adjacent design scopes.
  • Ensure timely submission, review, and approval of design deliverables in accordance with the project schedule.
  • Monitor the implementation of interface agreements and follow up on outstanding issues until resolution.
  • Identify potential design interface risks and conflicts during early project stages.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address interface risks that may affect project schedule or quality.
  • Monitor and update the Interface Risk Register in collaboration with project controls and risk teams.
  • Prepare regular interface status reports and interface resolution dashboards for senior management and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and updated interface documentation, logs, and communication records.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and client documentation and quality control procedures.
  • Collaborate with the construction team to ensure design interfaces are constructible and sequenced logically.
  • Support procurement by ensuring interface requirements are properly captured in tender and contract documents.
  • Coordinate resolution of design changes during construction that affect interfaces.

What Required Skills You'll Bring;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related discipline. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • 15 years of experience in design coordination, interface management, or design management within large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in managing multi-disciplinary interfaces, especially in projects involving complex stakeholder ecosystems.
  • Proven experience working with consultants, contractors, and government authorities.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure project design and construction workflows.
  • Deep understanding of interface management tools and best practices.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., BS, AASHTO, Eurocodes).
  • Proficient in design coordination software such as Navisworks, BIM platforms, and document management systems (e.g., Aconex, ProjectWise).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges.
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification.
  • Experience working on mega infrastructure projects (rail, metro, highways, airports, or utility corridors).
  • Knowledge of FIDIC or similar contract standards.
  • Experience with digital design tools and BIM Level 2 or higher.
  • Exposure to sustainability and environmental compliance in infrastructure design.
  • Fluency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
