Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Design Interface Engineer to join our team!
What You’ll Be Doing:
Design Coordination and Interface Management:
Identify and manage design interfaces across various disciplines including civil, structural, architectural, MEP, systems, and airfield works.
Facilitate coordination meetings with design consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure resolution of interface issues.
Maintain and update the Interface Management Register (IMR) and Interface Control Documents (ICD) throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure interface requirements are clearly defined, documented, and tracked to closure.
Technical Review and Support:
Review design submissions and shop drawings to ensure interface requirements are incorporated and conflicts are avoided.
Support resolution of technical issues related to overlapping design responsibilities, spatial coordination, or sequencing.
Liaise with construction teams to address field issues resulting from design interfaces and provide timely clarification.
Assist in the development and enforcement of design integration protocols and interface workflows.
Stakeholder Coordination and Communication:
Act as the focal point for design interface queries and coordination among internal and external stakeholders.
Collaborate with airport authorities, design consultants, and contractors to align on interface expectations and deliverables.
Ensure timely communication of interface resolutions and documentation across all affected teams.
Documentation and Reporting:
Prepare and maintain interface schedules, reports, dashboards, and tracking logs to ensure visibility of interface status.
Document design risks related to interfaces and support mitigation planning in coordination with engineering and project teams.
Review and provide feedback on interface-related submittals such as clash reports, integration plans, and coordination drawings.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
Ensure interface solutions are developed in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications.
Support quality reviews of design deliverables and contribute to interface-specific design assurance activities.
Monitor contractor and consultant compliance with interface management procedures.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Coordination:
Promote HSE considerations in interface planning to avoid risks during construction and future operations.
Participate in HSE risk reviews related to design overlaps and site logistics.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience in infrastructure design coordination, preferably in airport or large public transportation projects.
Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design interfaces across design and construction phases.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of interface management techniques, engineering design processes, and project lifecycle coordination.
Familiarity with international standards and codes applicable to airport infrastructure (ICAO, FAA, local authorities).
Proficiency in design tools and coordination platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, MS Project).
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills to manage technical and stakeholder discussions effectively.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Experience working in a live airport environment or on airside infrastructure interfaces (runways, taxiways, utilities).
Knowledge of airport operational constraints and integration with design development.
Certification in project coordination, interface management, or BIM (e.g., PMP, ISO 19650) is a plus.
Understanding of risk management and change control related to multidisciplinary interfaces.
Fluency in English (written and spoken); Arabic is an advantage.
