Job Description:

Parsons is seeking Software Engineers to work remotely and at our test facility in Summit Point, WV.  Engineers will be required to simulate and apply software engineering methods and techniques to the design, definition, development, evaluation, integration, and/or support of Information Technology (IT) solutions for Counter Unmanned Aerial System (CUAS) applications to detect, track, identify, and defeat the threat.

This is a full-time position with benefits that offers a flexible work schedule. The selected individual will work as an integral member of the team with responsibility for software development and integration; testing the system with both proxy, sensitive, and classified data; as well as supporting field testing at the Parsons Summit Point C-UAS COE. This is a mid-level career opportunity for a software engineer.

Join a multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and software developers responsible for integrating sensors and other components into a Command & Control (C2) system for Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS), i.e. for defense against drones. Be the person responsible for developing the software that ingests and fuses external sensor data feeds (radar, Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) video, radio frequency (RF), etc.) and controls those sensors.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Responsible for writing, coding, documenting, and testing software applications that interface with other systems. Must be able to work independently and cooperatively with other software developers.
  • Develop both backend service functions and front end user interface functions leveraging existing frameworks and APIs.
  • Apply advanced techniques (e.g., machine learning(ML)) to improve performance of the detection and categorization of UAS (drones). Serve as a technical consultant or researcher and perform analysis and troubleshooting of system defects and issues. 
  • Develop digital twins of sensors and targets to support modeling and simulation of operations.
  • Design quality control and test procedures and apply technical expertise to test system solutions.
  • Use defined procedures to configure, test and debug software; and investigate, analyze and resolve problems on software products. 
  • Developing elements of a modular integrated Command and Control (C2) solution.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • 3-8 years of software development experience.
  • Developing, testing, debugging complex software tools in Java, C++, and Python
  • Leveraging patterns and frameworks to build modular software
  • Experience with DevSecOps tools including Jira and Bitbucket (GIT)
  • Experience developing interfaces to external devices/systems using application programming interfaces include Restful Services, WebSockets, and others.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Position is 100% remote, but 10% domestic and international travel required.


What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Current Secret Clearance desired, but not required.
  • Experience with automated build/test pipelines with Jenkins and Maven
  • Experience with Ansys System Tookit (STK)
  • Experience applying maching learning frameworks for image processing, classification models, and synthetic data generation
  • Experience developing deployment scripts using Ansible
  • Experience working with various sensor/effector modalities and technologies include EO/IR, RF, Radar, and Acoustic.
  • Experience working with geospatial tools, applications, and algorithms.

Salary Range: $100,900.00 - $176,600.00
