Job Description:
Parsons is seeking exceptionally talented Construction Management Directors to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for all construction-related requirements for heavy civil, transportation and mining projects in Northern Canada.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Be responsible for the overall construction management function required to support construction work, contract administration and associated project delivery activities on current and future projects in Northern Canada.
Be responsible for the delivery of scope, schedule, budget, change management and quality for work packages executed by Parsons and its subcontractors.
Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Yukon), as well as requirements administered by the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission (WSCC) for the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, in addition to other relevant Acts, regulations, and project requirements.
Maintain a healthy and safe site at all times within active work areas and ensure that subcontractor Safe Work Plans and Standard Operating Procedures comply with the governing site safety plan and applicable jurisdictional requirements.
Ensure subcontractors prepare and adhere to their Environmental Protection Plans (EPPs) that comply with the local environmental legislation and regulations and any work package-specific environmental management plans.
Establish clear on-site authority, governance, and lines of communication to enable efficient execution of the work.
Coordinate and chair construction meetings throughout the full construction lifecycle.
Support the project’s socio-economic strategy and related commitments.
Foster a collaborative and cooperative team environment by providing timely, knowledgeable, and constructive input while supporting the objectives and responsibilities of other management and leadership team members.
Manage construction project management staff by providing supervision, technical direction, motivation, career development support, and performance feedback.
Manage project execution within approved budgets to maximize value and ensure effective use of project resources.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 15 years of cumulative project management experience related to the heavy civil construction industry, including experience in a senior role or progressively more senior roles over the course of that experience.
Experience on at least 3 projects, or 3 years of combined experience within the last 5 years, effectively managing a large number of subcontractors and coordinating construction activities.
Experience on at least 3 projects, or 3 years of combined experience within the last 5 years, overseeing the development of construction cost estimates, resource loaded schedules, construction progress schedule (including critical path scheduling), cash flow forecasts and progress reports.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Graduate degree in engineering from a recognized university. Engineering certification valid in any Canadian province or territory, P.Eng.
Completion of a diploma or degree in a recognized project management program, Project Management Professional, or equivalent certification.
Demonstrated experience monitoring and reviewing work packages or project delivery components, including contract administration, document control, project controls, change management, staff planning, supply chain management, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning.
Demonstrated experience ensuring the overall project scope of services is delivered safely, cost-effectively, and on schedule, while meeting or exceeding client expectations.
Demonstrated experience managing greenfield or brownfield projects.
Demonstrated experience managing project-specific change management and risk management systems.
