Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Civil Lead to join our team! In this role you will get to play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of civil works for the airport infrastructure project. This position requires a leader who can manage technical, operational, and logistical aspects of civil engineering while ensuring that the project meets its quality, safety, schedule, and budget objectives. The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in large-scale civil projects and demonstrate strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Project Oversight and Leadership:
Lead the civil engineering team in the design, construction, and commissioning phases of the airport infrastructure project.
Supervise and mentor junior engineers and field staff, ensuring their work aligns with project objectives and quality standards.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all civil-related activities, ensuring clear communication between stakeholders, contractors, and the project management team.
Design and Technical Support:
Review and validate civil engineering designs, ensuring they meet the project’s specifications, local regulations, and airport standards.
Provide technical support during the design review process and resolve any engineering issues that arise.
Approve drawings, calculations, and specifications for construction works.
Site Management and Coordination:
Coordinate site activities to ensure proper execution of civil works, including excavation, grading, paving, drainage, and utilities installation.
Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design, safety, and quality standards.
Ensure effective communication with contractors, sub-contractors, and project teams to keep the project on track.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
Oversee the implementation of quality control procedures to ensure that civil works are performed to the highest standards.
Manage the resolution of any non-conformance issues that may arise on-site.
Ensure all civil works comply with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
Scheduling and Resource Management:
Develop and maintain project schedules for civil engineering activities, ensuring that milestones are met.
Manage resource allocation, including labor, equipment, and materials, to ensure optimal project performance.
Track and report on project progress, identifying any potential delays or risks and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Cost and Budget Control:
Collaborate with the project management team to control civil-related costs, ensuring that all work is delivered within budget.
Review and approve invoices and work orders from contractors, ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement value engineering solutions without compromising quality.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Management:
Ensure all civil works are performed in line with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote a culture of safety on-site and ensure the civil team adheres to the safety standards and procedures.
Conduct safety audits and assist in the implementation of corrective actions as required.
Stakeholder Reporting and Communication:
Provide regular progress reports on civil works to senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and mitigation strategies.
Attend project meetings and participate in discussions to ensure civil engineering aspects are aligned with the overall project goals.
Communicate effectively with external consultants, contractors, and authorities to resolve issues and ensure project objectives are met.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field. Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, PE) is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the airport or transportation sector.
Skills & Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, design processes, and construction methods.
Experience with civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project).
Solid understanding of contract management and project scheduling.
Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
Experience in airport construction projects or other large-scale infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) and its applications in civil engineering.
Familiarity with international standards and codes related to civil construction (e.g., ACI, ASTM, EN).
Experience in managing cross-functional teams, including designers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
