Job Description:

Civil Inspector (Roads & Infrastructure)

Dubai, UAE

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Civil Inspector to join our team! In this role, you will perform continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, drawings, and specifications for major roads and infrastructure works.

What You'll Be Doing

• Inspect construction of roads, bridges, and other associated improvements (curb and gutter, streets, sidewalks, landscaping).
• Inspect drainage works, utilities, traffic control, and lighting installations.
• Observe installation of electrical equipment related to traffic signals, ramp metering, and street lighting.
• Inspect irrigation and planting, roadway and overhead sign removal and installation.
• Inspect installation of temporary and permanent signs and delineation.
• Monitor building and facility construction and associated site development as required.
• Take project photographs on a daily basis and file them appropriately.

In addition:

• Maintain office files related to the project, including quantity calculations and daily diaries.
• Prepare daily reports and other documentation as required by the contract.
• Verify that only approved materials are incorporated in the work.
• Perform labor compliance interviews and maintain as-built plans.
• Recognize potential conflicts, issues, and problems, and report them to the supervisor with proposed solutions.
• May provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors.
• Coordinate the work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing.
• Participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
• Participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
• Report on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work.
• Respond to call-backs in case of emergency at the project site.
• Conduct tests to determine if work has been completed in accordance with contract specifications, which may include:
  • Soil compaction and moisture content
  • Aggregate gradation
  • Concrete slump and air entrainment
  • Concrete compression tests
  • Line and grade surveys
  • Bolt torque checks
  • Concrete coring

What Required Skills You'll Bring

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction supervision of infrastructure projects, including road works and utilities within the UAE.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction specifications, and processes related to civil inspection.
• Strong analytical capabilities and the ability to work independently in the field.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
