Civil/ Infrastructure Inspector (Roads and Utilities)

Sharjah, UAE

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Infrastructure Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to performs continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.

What you'll be doing:

• Conducts tests to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications and may include any of the following: Performs civil and structural tests, such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, lines and grades surveys, bolt torques, and concrete coring.

• Performs surveillance of underground piping to ensure tightness, bedding, and grade.

• Provides general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.  

• Participates in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.

• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

• Conduct inspections of utility systems and roads works, including water, sewer, gas, irrigation, road pavement, etc. to verify adherence to project specifications and regulatory requirements.

• Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, standards, and specifications.

• Maintain a detailed diary of the day’s work activities, issues, work approved or rejected, hours of operation, labor and equipment used, etc. and sign at the end of each day as directed by the ARE.

• Coordinate with the other disciplines inspectors and arrange for sampling and testing of satisfactorily completed work, and quality assurance testing of suspect materials.

• Coordinate with the Surveyors to check the line and grade of ready work and completed work for conformance with the plans and specifications.

• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to address and resolve issues or discrepancies.

• Enforce adherence to safety regulations and quality control standards on site.

• Perform regular site visits and inspections to track construction progress and ensure workmanship quality.

• Organize and manage inspection records, ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and current.

• Report to the ARE or RE any failure of the Contractor to perform the work as per the drawings and specifications and to provide good workmanship.

• Act positively and participate in all health and safety issues at site, as required by the Assistant Resident Engineer and the project safety representatives.

• Act in a professional way but firm in dealings with the Contractor.

What required skills you'll bring:

• The ideal candidate should have a Diploma (3-Years) / Degree in Civil Engineering discipline or similar construction certificate.

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction supervision of infrastructure projects including Road & Utilities etc. preferably in the UAE.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction specifications and processes related to civil inspection.

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications and be thoroughly familiar with construction related processes related to area of assignment. 

• Good oral and written communication skills in English.\

• Ability to communicate logically and clearly with management and staff.
