Job Description:

CAD SPECIALIST - Qiddiya

Specific Responsibilities:

- Updates geospatial databases to achieve data accuracy and integrity, collaborates with project teams to provide spatial data/analysis for decision making, and assists in effective data analysis to uncover patterns, trends, and insights in geospatial data.
- Creates, maintains and updates AutoCAD drawings/ layouts and digital maps for various projects using geographic information systems (GIS).
- Supports drafting of special provisions and completes system and database reporting, with oversight.
- Develops custom CAD layouts and drawings to support team in determining solutions to identified spatial problems.
- Assists in the installation and configuration of enterprise portals to meet project requirements.
- Supports the implementation of security measures and management of server sites.
- Implements database design elements and spatial database models for efficient querying and analysis.
- Assists in defining data types, relationships, constraints, and indexes for optimal performance.
- Completes systems, databases, and data checklists /reports (assurance and handover) with oversight.
- Prepares GIS maps and data without supervision and advancing to more complex requirements, with supervision.
- Supports the preparation, review, and execution of AutoCAD implementation/management plans at the program/project level.
- Supports basic and advanced editing and digitizing to achieve accurate conversion of analog maps and geospatial data into digital format.
- Supports geoprocessing techniques to manipulate and analyze geospatial data, creating new information to solve geographical problems.
- Provides technical guidance and training to junior staff on GIS software and applications; including participating in the creation of training templates/manuals.
- Assists team in responding to client queries and requests.
- Provides input to clients/others working on same project.
- Interfaces with other departments on matters relating to work assignments.

Skills and Competencies:

- Familiar with core GIS, Computer Aided Design (CAD), and Building Information Management (BIM) software.
- Proficient knowledge, awareness, and understanding of AutoCAD, (with GIS a distinct advantage) software/database packages including workflows, hardware and software, tool deployment process and requirements, troubleshooting, capacity and capability assessments, principles and techniques, and concept application to assignments.
- Proficient in analyzing and problem-solving geospatial data. Understands Quality Assurance/ Quality Control standard practices and procedures, geoprocessing techniques, data management standards, data analysis, data model structures, and data format transformation.
- Ability to implement database design elements for efficient querying and analysis.
- Implements data model structures to accurately represent geographic features and spatial relationships with skill.
- Skilled in assisting with the utilization of web services and mobile applications.
- Able to support the usage of Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) workbenches for data transformation and conversion.
- Ability to automate tasks, customize functionalities, and perform complex spatial analyses in GIS using programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, etc.
- Skilled in utilizing model builders and customized tools for geospatial tasks.
- Able to assist in the production of scaled maps with excellent cartographic designs.
- Able to define topology rules to enforce data integrity, data accuracy, and provide guidance.
- Ability to mentor others, guide/supervise/train team members in work production efforts including reviewing GIS deliverables and developing basic training manuals/videos for GIS software.
- Effective computer skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and related word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Ability to effectively communicate (both verbally and in writing) on modeling, survey, and GIS technical and non-technical subjects with management, engineering, and production staff.

Education and Typical Experience:

- Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
- 6+ years related work experience

Licenses and Certifications:

- AutoCAD/GIS related certification is preferred.
