Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented BIM / CAD Specialist - Urban Planning to join our team! In this role you will get to perform basic to moderately-difficult design/drafting assignments requiring a working knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques.
What You'll Be Doing:
Collaborate with urban planners and architects to develop detailed Building Information Models (BIM) and layouts for urban planning projects.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of authority approvals relevant to urban planning, such as DM, DDA, etc.
Create base maps, including sign-off sheets, plot development guidelines, and land use plans, by digitizing and organizing collected data.
Possess a solid understanding of land use schedules.
Define zoning regulations and land use categories.
Utilize software like MicroStation and Civil 3D to create and manage 2D and 3D models, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
Provide expertise in BIM workflows, standards, and best practices to optimize the efficiency of the urban planning design process.
Conduct quality checks on BIM models to ensure data integrity and consistency.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, incorporating feedback and making necessary adjustments to BIM models.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in BIM technology to enhance project delivery.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Degree or Diploma in any relevant discipline. Preferably in Civil Engineering or Architecture.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a BIM/CAD role within the urban planning or related field. Otherwise, experience from Infrastructure/Roads/Utilities related projects.
Proficiency in MicroStation Connect and Civil 3D software is essential.
Strong understanding of BIM principles, workflows, and standards.
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team.
Knowledge of urban planning concepts and terminology is a plus.
