Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Town Planner to join our team! In this role you will get to create and deliver solutions for complex and challenging projects in the development of a new City. This Position is to Lead the Industrial Planning Unit within the Urban Planning Department.
What You'll Be Doing:
Contributes to the planning, design, and delivery of a variety of industrial-based projects often happening concurrently.
Leads the review of small to large-scale industrial and infrastructure production packages in coordination with other team disciplines and under the supervision of the Urban Planning Manager.
Works to a program for deliverables and advises of any challenges which may affect delivery timeframes.
Works within regulatory design and planning standards of the City’s JCPDI 2040 Industrial City Master Plan.
Ensures the quality of deliverables meets the expectations of the Client.
Works within a multicultural, multidisciplinary team including urban planners, urban designers, traffic planners, architects, and engineers.
Undertakes technical coordination of infrastructure and facilities with other disciplines.
Develops, conducts, and organizes client presentations and multidisciplinary workshops.
Acts in a Client representative role, managing, directing, and coordinating the deliverables of commissioned consultants.
Coordinates teams to prepare project deliverables and applicable planning authority requirements into a cohesive plan and program.
Works with the planning team and is able to manage and negotiate project expectations, timelines, and deliverables independently and as part of a Team.
Initiates and drives innovative approaches to efficient project delivery.
Has a solid understanding of various scales of planning projects and is able to communicate requirements and impacts to colleagues and senior management effectively.
Demonstrates the ability to carry out baseline assessments and develop planning criteria for the assessment of industrial sites and broader master plans.
Has the ability to develop implementation and industrial phasing plans.
Exhibits a strong understanding of planning / environmental governance and policy, and can communicate and make recommendations on each in the context of industrial planning.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning from a western university.
Postgraduate/Master’s degree in urban planning or urban design an advantage
Preferably with a professional affiliation (or eligible for membership).
Prior work experience in Gulf region is preferred.
Candidates will ideally have a minimum of 15 years of relevant working experience in urban planning and industrial planning, and master planning.
Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
Capable of working on own initiative and as part of a larger multidisciplinary team.
Have a logical and organized approach to project delivery and project outputs.
Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, attending meetings, workshops and seminars.
Familiarity with economic and financing principles as applied to industrial development.
Beneficial to have an understanding of infrastructure issues related to industrial development
Beneficial to be familiar with industrial land use concepts and contemporary best practices
