Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Engineer (BIM) to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for leading BIM coordination for all civil infrastructure within the city road corridors with specific focus on wet and dry utilities infrastructure. Using drafting software develops utility layouts, maps, and other deliverables needed to support the ongoing design and planning work within the Engineering Department.
Creates and maintains BIM Models for proposed and existing utility pipe network and associated appurtenances – underground power, storm drainage system, sanitary sewer system, gas system, telecommunications/data systems.
What You'll Be Doing:
Leading BIM coordination with specific focus on utilities.
Develop and maintain comprehensive BIM models for assigned projects, adhering to industry standards and company guidelines.
Creating and maintaining BIM Models for proposed and existing utility pipe network and associated appurtenances – underground power, storm drainage system, sanitary sewer system, gas system, telecommunications/data systems etc.
Generate 2D drawings and reports directly from the BIM model, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
Expected to be proficient with various design and drafting software and uses this software to support the PTS team with production work and maintaining the Utility Master Plan Base Map.
Ensuring 100% BIM compliance on all projects. Take lead in enhancing the digital delivery within utilities team.
Collaboratively working with various engineering disciplines, participating in model coordination meetings, and aspiring to deliver high quality, clash free models.
Preparing design drawings for engineering purposes including site plans, cross-sections and utilities layouts as per established CAD standards within Engineering Department.
Developing accurate utilities layout plans, easement plans, site plans from conceptual level sketches prepared by planning/design staff.
Compiling information provided by engineering department staff into presentation drawings, including illustrative report graphics and large-scale plans.
Creating new library components for utility infrastructure scope, as needed.
Develop and implement BIM standards, templates, and workflows for the team.
Participate in the development and implementation of BIM best practices across the organization.
Stay up-to-date on the latest BIM technologies and trends, and propose innovative solutions for improving workflows.
Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and owners.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members on BIM software and processes.
Manage and track your own workload, meeting deadlines and project objectives.
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record of success in complex projects.
Expertise in BIM software, such as Civil3D.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, BIM 360, ProjectWise
Expert user of ArcGIS and/or ArcMap.
Must have extensive experience of working with CAD / Production team.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proactive, problem-solving, and detail-oriented approach.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
