Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Interior Design Manager to join our team! Responsible for overseeing and managing various aspects related to the design and execution of interior spaces. Their role involves coordinating and leading a team of interior designers, ensuring that projects meet client requirements, adhering to budgets and timelines, and maintaining high standards of design and aesthetics. Here are some key activities that an Interior Design Manager typically performs:

What You'll Be Doing:

  • The Interior Design Manager oversees the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept development to project completion. They coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, establish timelines, and create project plans. They are responsible for ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, within budget, and delivered on time.

  • The Interior Design Manager leads a team of interior designers and design professionals. They assign tasks and responsibilities, provide guidance and mentorship, and foster a collaborative and creative work environment. They facilitate effective communication and coordination among team members to ensure smooth project execution.

  • The Interior Design Manager acts as the primary point of contact for clients. They develop and maintain relationships with clients, understand their design needs and preferences, and ensure that project deliverables align with client expectations. They provide regular updates, address client concerns, and seek client feedback throughout the design process.

  • The Interior Design Manager participates in the design development process, working closely with the design team to create functional and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. They contribute to concept development, review design proposals, provide input and feedback, and ensure that designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • The Interior Design Manager is responsible for managing project budgets, including tracking expenses, reviewing cost estimates, and controlling project expenditures. They optimize resource allocation, including materials, furnishings, and equipment, to ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining design quality.

  • The Interior Design Manager collaborates with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to source materials, furnishings, and finishes required for projects. They negotiate contracts, monitor vendor performance, and ensure the timely delivery of materials and products. They may also maintain a network of trusted suppliers and establish partnerships to support project needs.

  • The Interior Design Manager maintains high standards of design quality and ensures that projects meet established design criteria and brand guidelines. They conduct regular site visits, review design deliverables, and provide feedback to ensure compliance with design intent and specifications. They closely monitor project progress, addressing issues or challenges that may arise during construction or installation.

  • The Interior Design Manager collaborates with cross-functional teams such as architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers. They participate in meetings, coordinate design efforts, and ensure effective communication and collaboration among all stakeholders. This collaboration ensures seamless integration of interior design with architectural and construction elements.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • A strong foundation in interior design principles, techniques, and best practices is crucial. This includes understanding space planning, color theory, materials and finishes, furniture selection, lighting design, and ergonomics. Proficiency in design software tools such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit is also beneficial.

  • Effective project management skills are essential for overseeing interior design projects from start to finish. This entails the ability to develop project plans, create and manage budgets, set timelines, coordinate resources, and ensure adherence to project milestones. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills are vital for successful project execution.

  • Must possess leadership qualities to effectively lead a team of designers and other professionals. They need to provide clear direction, delegate tasks, motivate team members, and foster a collaborative and positive work environment. Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills are essential for effective team management.

  • Should have a solid understanding of technical aspects relevant to interior design projects. This includes knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance and safety. Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and specifications is important for effective collaboration with architects, contractors, and other professionals.
