Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented Electrical Inspector to join our team! Parsons is looking for a candidate for an electrical quality assurance inspection role for vertical construction projects located within an aviation environment in central Maryland. The Inspector will be responsible for monitoring of contractor’s quality control and contract compliance for projects of various size and scope.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Keep Resident Engineer informed of proposed changes by the Contractor(s)
  • Monitor project for proper safety compliance
  • Coordinate work with Airport Operations, Maintenance, FAA, tenants, Fire Marshall
  • Fill out and maintain inspector daily reports Take preconstruction, construction and post construction pictures, maintain copies on SharePoint
  • Schedule consultant testing (e.g.: JA RICE, ETC, UEE)
  • Perform constructability reviews
  • Track Request for Information
  • Track Technical Submittals
  • Inspect for compliance & maintain files for electrical submittals
  • Verify approved materials per submittals
  • Verify project specifications contact documents and testing requirements
  • Obtain reference material called out in specifications
  • Fill out and issue dig permits
  • Perform Quality assurance inspections and testing of all building electrical, data/communication, controls, and special systems installations.
  • Inspection of all beneath-slab, wall-interior, and above-ceiling electrical installations; and Inspection and testing of all electrical, data/communication, control, and special systems cabling installations and devices, as well as contract compliance validation of all startup and commissioning activities for electrical, data/communication, control, and special systems.
  • Installation of temporary and permanent signs and delineation
    ·         Installation of mechanical equipment
    ·         Building and facility construction and associated site development
  • Verify stored materials
  • Collect and verify material delivery tickets
  • Document deficiencies
  • Issue Non-Conformance reports / Corrective action reports
  • Track project progress
  • Compose speed memos
  • Track in-house survey information (i.e.: JA RICE for pay item verification)
  • Review and perform monthly spot checks of contractors as-built drawings
  • Assist with estimates
  • Track force account work
  • Track allowance work orders
  • Fill out pay sheets based on contact method of payment, track quantities and monitor overruns
  • Develops project punch list and coordinates work completion with the Contractor(s)

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field, or a high school diploma and equivalent work experience required, post-secondary education is preferred.
  • Typically, 5+ years of related experience on field projects, as well as formal certification from an independent organization, depending on type of inspection assignment.
  • Knowledge of public works contracts preferred. Construction safety training including OSHA 30-hour training.
  • Minimum of two years demonstrable experience in electrical construction inspection or a minimum of five years working in electrical construction industry;
    · Must be able to work nights and weekends;
    · Must be able to obtain airport security badge;
    · Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license;
    · Must be willing to pursue and obtain certifications and credentials related to position.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Must be able to read and interpret plans and specifications, be totally familiar with construction-related processes related to area of assignment, and have the potential to perform in a lead capacity.
  • Knowledge of English grammar and composition, the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; to follow oral and written instructions and prepare written messages and reports.
  • Capability to perform math calculation in order to prepare engineering calculations, graphs and charts.
  • Proficiency with basic computer usage, extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project Management Software and internet search engines (like Google or equivalent) required.
  • Ability to comply with multitude of requirements as applicable to the project based on client and industry standards.
  • Must have thorough understanding of scheduling, and the ability to review progress pay estimates and extra work bills.
  • Must be able to recognize hazardous work conditions and act if required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate skill/proficiency in the following:
  • · Must be a proactive self-starter with the initiative to act on assignments with minimal oversight.
  • · Must have the ability to read and interpret construction documents/standards and codes and be able to apply them to ongoing installations.
  • · Effective and timely verbal and written communication skills.
  • · Ability to communicate in a timely and effective manner in both written and oral formats.
  • · Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and other team members.

Salary Range: 

$33.89 - $59.33
