Groundwater Treatment System Lead Operator, Central NJ (Brunswick Area)

What you'll be doing:

Parsons is in need of a Lead Groundwater Treatment System Operator on a full-time basis who:

  • Will function as part of on-going treatment system team.  Generally working day shift, for a nominal 500 gallon per minute groundwater recovery and treatment system.  The treatment system employs a number of physical/chemical treatment unit processes including advanced oxidation, chemical precipitation, gravity settling, air stripping, granular activated carbon adsorption, treated effluent infiltration basins, and sludge drying.  
  • Perform routine and non-routine tasks related to the site industrial wastewater treatment system and wastewater treatment operations and maintenance.
  • Collect samples and maintain documentation in record logs. Performs routine laboratory analytical testing associated with day-to-day operation/optimization of the treatment process.
  • Tests, calibrates, repairs, and modifies control and instrumentation systems at on-site locations or supervises other staff performing such duties.  Assignments are undertaken independently on a regular basis.
  • Prepares required field and office reports of various activities and findings.  Initiates basic reports and/or establishes and maintains logs and records.  Develops discharge monitoring reports for signature by others.
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in the operation of water, wastewater, or groundwater treatment systems or related process systems involving pumping, chemical addition, mixing and clarification.   Experience with the operation and maintenance of chemical addition systems including acid, caustic, ferric chloride, and polymer is a plus.  Experience with the operation and trouble shooting of standard wastewater treatment physical chemical unit operations including pumping systems, mixing systems, clarification systems, sludge transfer, granular activated carbon adsorption, and bag filtration is a plus.  Knowledge of automated control systems and SCADA is a plus.  Experience with treatment system start-up is a plus.

Requirements:

High School diploma, or equivalent, and 6+ years of related work experience, or a 2-year degree in a related field with 4+ years of experience.  New Jersey N3 operatIons certification required or available to complete the N3 certification within a reasonable time frame.  Completion of a 40-hour OSHA training course (with an annual 8-hour update) is preferred for industrial or hazardous wastewater operations.

Salary Range: 

$29.42 - $51.49
